Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Metal Weight Calculator ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

The App works without an account and without an internet connection. What you enter stays on your device. The App sends only crash reports and app usage, as described below, to help us fix problems and improve it.

1. Information We Collect

A. What You Enter, Kept on Your Device

The following stays on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and it is not included in crash reports or usage data:

Calculations: the shapes, sizes, lengths, weights, pieces and prices you enter, and their results.
History: the calculations you save, with any notes you add to them.
Materials: your favourite materials, custom materials and the densities you set.
Settings: your units, theme, text size and other preferences.

B. Automatically Collected Information

Crash Reports: If the App crashes or hits a serious error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with the error's technical details (such as the stack trace), the App version, your device model and operating system version, and a random installation identifier.
Usage Data: Firebase Analytics records which screens of the App are opened, along with events it collects automatically, such as the App's first open, sessions and updates. It also records the App version, your device model, operating system and language, an approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address, and a random App instance identifier.

The App does not collect your advertising ID, does not use ad personalisation, and asks for no permissions to your location, contacts, camera, photos or files.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use crash reports to find and fix bugs, and usage data to understand which features are used, so we can improve the App. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Service Providers: Crash reports and usage data are processed by Google, which provides Firebase, on our behalf (see Section 7).
When You Share a Result: If you share a calculation as text or an image, your device's share sheet sends it to the app or person you choose. We do not receive a copy.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.

4. Data Storage and Retention

On Your Device: What you enter is stored in the App's private storage on your device until you delete it in the App or uninstall the App.
Crash Reports: Firebase Crashlytics keeps crash reports for 90 days.
Usage Data: Firebase Analytics keeps usage data linked to an App instance identifier for the retention period set in our Google Analytics settings, at most 14 months, and then deletes it.

Crash reports and usage data are sent over encrypted connections and stored on Google's servers.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is a tool for metalwork, engineering and trade use and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can delete it.

6. Your Choices and Controls

Delete a Calculation: You can delete any saved calculation in History, or delete them all with Clear all.
Delete Materials: You can delete any custom material in Materials.
Delete Everything on Your Device: Clearing the App's data in your device settings, or uninstalling the App, removes everything stored on your device.
Crash Reports and Usage Data: To ask us to delete the crash reports and usage data linked to your installation, contact us at contact@pihulabs.com.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

Firebase Crashlytics (Google): Automatic crash reporting, to help us identify and fix bugs.
Firebase Analytics (Google): App usage measurement, to help us improve the App.
Google Play: Distributes the App and its updates.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
